What is Reiki? It’s a question we get asked all the time. Is it a massage? No. Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan around 1922 by Dr. Mikao Usui. The Japanese word Reiki (pronounced “Ray Kee”) is often translated into “universal life-force energy”. It is a non religion based practice. Reiki energy is transferred through an attuned practitioner to the client either through light touch or hovering the hands over the body in a series of hand postures. Although the practitioner acts as the energy channel, the client is actually healing themselves by opening up and allowing the energy to travel through the body clearing the energy centers and removing any blockages that cause dis-ease. Reiki is not a replacement for Allopathic medicine, but a complimentary therapy.
