In this 3 hour workshop, we will use meditation, journaling and yoga nidra to experience the tantric practice of pratyahara–the withdrawal of the senses. Using these tools, we will have the opportunity to quiet our bodies, minds, and spirits in order to really be alone with ourselves. By removing outside stimuli and bringing our attention and awareness within, we can access a careful listening to our unique, innate wisdom.
What might you hear if you asked yourself difficult questions when you were calmly and lovingly alone with yourself? What would you learn if you were prepared to truly listen to your inner knowing? Armed with that understanding, how might you show up in the world as your truest, most authentic self?
Cost: $30 (70% of proceeds will be donated to Family Promise)
Are you looking to retrain your mind and body to respond more effectively to stress, and experience less physical and mental suffering? This two-hour workshop will give you exactly that, and include a yin yoga practice targeting the whole body and a vipassana meditation practice, which is an “open awareness” or “insight” style of meditation. The yoga postures will often be supported by props and will be held for 3 to 10 minutes.
This workshop will encompass the main principles of Yin yoga, a variety of breathing techniques, and various mindfulness techniques to de-stress and bring a sense of peace and well-being to your entire self. We will discuss the benefits of developing a home practice in either yoga or meditation and some of the misconceptions of mindfulness practices.
If you are looking for solitude, body awareness, mindful practices, breathing techniques, connection to yourself, or to just deepen your meditation or yoga practice, then this is the workshop for you.
